Charlottesville Freedom School

In partnership with Albemarle County Public Schools, Charlottesville City Schools, and St. Anne’s-Belfield School, the UVA Center for Race and Public Education (CRPES) is hosting the 2023 Charlottesville Freedom School for rising 3rd-8th grade students.

Charlottesville United for Public Education

Charlottesville United for Public Education is a coalition of parents, grandparents, and community members committed to ensuring every child in Charlottesville City Schools receives a quality education. We advocate for student success from preschool to graduation through community engagement, family support and civic participation. As champions united for healthy students and schools, we center community voices and welcome all who are invested in making public education better in Charlottesville.

Living Earth School- Kid’s Nature Summer Camps

We have been voted a favorite summer day camp for over 10 years! Your child will spend the week exploring the mountains, streams, and wild places of Charlottesville, Virginia. Campers work together in small groups learning about the natural world, plants, mammals, tracking, birds, wilderness survival, awareness, and so much more. We do this with hands-on activities, games, adventures, and fun challenges. Our instructors are Nature Connection Mentors, guiding campers into experiences that nurture their connection to the earth and allow them to feel at home in the natural world.

Math, Men, & Mission (M-Cubed) Summer Academy

The M-Cubed Summer Academy is a program designed to help rising 5th through 8th graders develop strong math skills.

Peabody Summer Camp 2024

Since its founding, Peabody School has grown from 13 to more than 225 students in grades PreK-8th and provides a critical resource to Central Virginia, serving the needs of academically advanced children of all backgrounds by promoting cognitive, social and emotional development for each child at a rate commensurate with his or her ability.

Virginia Credit Union

We offer hands-on, engaging lessons for students of all ages. We have virtual and in-person sessions on:

- Counting money and making change
- Goods and Services
- Wants vs. Needs
- Opportunity Cost
- Spending and Saving
- Budgeting
- Productive Resources
- Entrepreneurship and more!

Each 45-60 minute lessons is tailored to age-appropriate concepts and standards. VCU also offers “Family Finance Nights” where staff, students, and their families can come together to set goals and have important money discussions.
