Fry Spring's Beach Club - Scholarships Available
Established in 1921, FSBC uniquely blends modern day life and yesteryear charm. It offers members and their guests a summertime resort in the heart of Charlottesville. Come join the Club and swim, grill, play and lounge with us! FSBC extends full membership scholarships to up to 10% of its families each year. Scholarship families receive full access to the club and may opt to participate in swim lessons and/or swim team as well. Older children may seek employment at the club, a popular avenue for many teens at FSBC.
Many children in the area from families with low-income have not had access to pools or swim lessons and feel uncomfortable around the water. FSBC can provide swim lessons for new swimmers in these families or connect them with the Ben Hair Just Swim for Life program, a local non-profit operating out of FSBC. The program’s goal is to “waterproof” participants so that they are first safe around water. Upon learning how to swim, many children are eager to continue swimming and go on to join the FSBC Swim Team.
FSBC is seeking to expand its scholarship program through work with community partners and local schools. We encourage under-represented families to apply directly and members to nominate families for scholarships as well.
